How to React with Emojis in Outlook

Reacting with emojis in Outlook can add a fun and expressive touch to your emails, but it works a bit differently depending on whether you are using the Outlook desktop application or Outlook on the web. Here’s how to do it in both environments:

In Outlook on the Web

  1. Open Your Email: Start by composing a new email or opening an email thread in which you want to react.
  2. Locate the Emoji Icon: In the email composition window, look for the emoji icon. This is usually represented by a smiley face on the toolbar.
  3. Insert an Emoji:
    • Click on the emoji icon, and a panel will appear with various categories of emojis.
    • Browse or search for the emoji you wish to use.
    • Click on the emoji to insert it into your email.
  4. Send the Email: Once you’ve added your emoji(s) into the email body, finish your message and click “Send.”

In Outlook Desktop Application (Windows)

As of now, Outlook’s desktop version does not have a built-in feature specifically for reacting with emojis similar to some messaging apps. However, you can still insert emojis using the Windows emoji keyboard:

  1. Open Outlook: Launch the Outlook application on your desktop.
  2. Compose or Reply to an Email: Start writing a new email or replying to an existing message.
  3. Use the Emoji Keyboard:
    • Place the cursor where you want to insert the emoji.
    • Press Windows + . (Windows key and period) or Windows + ; (Windows key and semicolon) to open the emoji panel.
    • Browse through the emojis or use the search bar to find the emoji you’re looking for.
    • Click on the emoji to insert it into your email.
  4. Send the Email: Finish your email and click “Send.”

In Outlook Mobile App

  1. Open the Outlook App: Launch the Outlook app on your mobile device.
  2. Compose a New Email or Reply: Tap on the “New Email” button or open an existing thread to reply.
  3. Access Your Mobile Keyboard: When you’re in the email body, bring up the keyboard.
  4. Insert Emoji:
    • Tap the emoji icon on your mobile keyboard (usually located next to the space bar or in the keyboard settings).
    • Select the emoji you wish to use and it will be inserted into your email.
  5. Send the Email: After adding your emojis, complete your message and tap “Send.”

Using emojis in Outlook can make your emails more engaging and relatable. Whether you’re using the web version, desktop application, or mobile app, you can easily find and insert emojis to add a personal touch to your communications. Note that while emojis can enhance your message, it’s always essential to consider the context and audience to ensure they are appropriate.
